Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has officially rolled out a new line of ultra-compact, voltage-driven photorelays engineered to withstand extreme heat. The four new models—TLP3407SRB, TLP3412SRB, TLP3412SRHB, and TLP3412SRLB—feature a maximum operating temperature rating of 135°C, making them an ideal solution for high-demand thermal environments.
Volume shipments for these advanced components are currently underway.
Why High-Temperature Photorelays Matter Today
The rapid evolution of electric vehicles (EVs) and autonomous driving technology demands increasingly dense packaging for automotive electronic components. As semiconductor density rises, so does the operating temperature. To ensure maximum reliability and safety on the road, the equipment used to test these components—such as semiconductor testers, probe cards, and burn-in devices—must be capable of performing flawlessly under intense heat.
Toshiba addresses this critical industry need by elevating the maximum operating temperature of these new photorelays from the standard 125°C to an impressive 135°C through optimized internal element design.
Key Advantages and Design Features
- Space-Saving Voltage-Driven Design: Unlike traditional current-driven models, these new photorelays are voltage-driven and feature built-in input resistors. This eliminates the need for external resistors, freeing up valuable mounting board space.
- Ultra-Compact Footprint: All four models are housed in Toshiba’s extremely small S-VSON4T package, measuring a mere 1.45 mm × 2.0 mm (typical).
- High-Density Application: The combination of an integrated resistor, a miniature footprint, and superior thermal tolerance makes these photorelays perfectly suited for environments where board space is heavily restricted but multiple relays must be mounted.
Primary Applications
These photorelays are tailored for demanding testing and validation equipment, including:
- Semiconductor Testers (evaluating Memory, SoC, LSI, and automotive chips)
- Probe Cards
- Burn-In Equipment
